The Georgia Bureau of Investigation, along with the Walker County Sheriff’s Office, arrested a Walker County school teacher on Monday and charged him with sexual assault and marijuana possession.

According to the GBI, forty-three-year-old Rodney Dewayne Mann of a Ridgeway Road, Lafayette address, is accused of sexually assaulting a female student that was enrolled at Ridgeland High School where Mann was a teacher.

Walker County Sheriff’s Investigators called in the GBI to help in the investigation.  Investigators executed a search warrant at Mann’s home on Ridgeway Road on Monday and found information leading to his arrest.  Mann had resigned his post at Ridgeland last Friday.  He had been a teacher at the school for eight years.

Mann is charged with one count of sexual assault by an authority figure and one count of misdemeanor possession of marijuana and drug related items. He was booked into Walker County Jail.
