An inmate at the Floyd County Jail, Eric Jordan Hunter, 25, is now accused of attacking a jail officer over the weekend.
Authorities stated that Hunter refused to obey commands then eventually striking the officer.
Hunter was in the jail after being accused of murdering and robbing Nicholas Shropshire back in 2015. Shropshire’s body was found near the side of Floyd Springs Road and a passer-by contacted 911 to report the discovery on the afternoon of April 18, 2015. Emergency personnel responded but the man was pronounced dead a short time later.
Hunter is now charged with felony obstruction of officers, riot in a penal institution and simple battery on a law enforcement officer.
