Vincent Shariff Maxwell, 51 of Rome, was arrested on Thursday after police said he threw a bowl of hot soup at a 29 year-old woman.
Reports stated that the altercation occurred in the presence of their 23 month-old son.
Maxwell is charged with simple battery and cruelty to children.
