John Paul Sauls, 33 of Rome, was arrested Thursday after police said he assaulted a 40 year-old man at a home on Lions Drive.

Reports stated that Sauls “attempted to commit a violent injury to the victim by threatening to strike the victim”.

Authorities said that Sauls attempted to flee from police after being asked to stop numerous times.  They went on to say that Sauls “acted in a violent manner” towards them and placed an officer in fear of his safety.

Sauls is charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct and obstruction of law enforcement.
