Gordon County deputy sheriffs were dispatched to a local motel near the intersection of Interstate 75 and US Highway 41 near Calhoun late last week in response to a report of suspicious persons occupying one of the rooms.

Deputies arrived and located the suspicious individuals, and then summoned a Sheriff’s K9 unit and detectives to the scene. Detectives detained two men and subsequently executed a search warrant in the room which yielded a large quantity of methamphetamine with a street value of over $12,000.00.

The two men, identified as James Daniel Amburgey, age 46, and Jason Matthew Goins, age 38, both of LaFollette, Tennessee, were arrested and charged with Trafficking in Methamphetamine and other methamphetamine related offenses. They are both being held in jail pending bond.
