Demarcus Alphonzo Driver, 28 of Rome, was arrested at the intersection of Broad Street and 4th Avenue over the weekend after police said he ran a red light on 3rd Avenue.
Reports said that once Driver pulled over he attempted to destroy evidence when he swallowed marijuana.
Driver is charged with driving under the influence, possession of marijuana, failure to obey traffic control devices, tampering with evidence and obstruction of law enforcement.
