Desmond Lee Whipple Sr, 33 of Rome, was arrested on Sunday after he was found asleep in a stolen Toyota 4 Runner.
Reports stated that Whipple allegedly stole the truck from a home on East 14th and Crane Street.
Officers said that while questioning Whipple he was found to be intoxicated and admitted to driving the vehicle while as such.
A search of the vehicle uncovered methamphetamine and a counterfeit $100 bill. He was also found to be in possession of $238 in cash that was stolen from the truck’s owner.
Whipple is charged with theft by taking motor vehicle, first degree forgery, theft by taking, driving under the influence, possession of methamphetamine, and driving on a suspended license.
