R.J. Frick’s, a leading retailer of furniture, bedding and home accents in Northwest Georgia, is closing after a century of service. A going out of business sale is under way, located at 420 Broad St. in historic downtown Rome, with operating hours that include the busy post-Thanksgiving shopping weekend.
R.J. Frick’s has been in business in one form or another for 100 years. The store, which spans 15,000 square feet on two floors, is currently owned by Ramona J. Fricks and her husband, Greg, who bought out his father, Bill Fricks, in 1991. At one time, Bill Fricks also served as mayor of Rome. Ramona and Greg Fricks are preparing to retire and permanently close the store.
“For four generations, the Fricks name has been synonymous with quality home furnishings,” said Ramona Fricks. “Our philosophy has always been, ‘When the new is laced with the old and warmth is created with love, the house becomes a home.’ We pride ourselves in offering the highest-quality furniture, rugs, artwork, accessories and window treatments while still remaining affordable.”
R.J. Fricks is well known for its talented design team. Long before HGTV and room makeovers became trendy, Ramona Fricks and other R.J. Fricks designers were slipping into their clients’ homes and, in a matter of hours, completely transforming the spaces with new carpeting, molding, painting and furnishings. Company designers were known to travel as far as New York, Colorado and Florida to conduct these innovative room makeovers.
During the going-out-of-business sale, everything in the R.J. Fricks store will be sold. R.J. Fricks features furniture and bedding products from well-known brands such as Century, Drexel Heritage, Hekman, Henredon, Howard Miller, John Richard, Leather Italia, Lexington, Maitland-Smith, Marge Carson and Symbol. A huge selection of product will be available during the sale event, with discounts of up to 65 percent on designer rugs.
“Over the years, RJ Fricks has become northwest Georgia’s destination for exquisitely crafted fine designer furniture at an exceptional value,” said Greg Fricks. “This sale event offers customers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to buy brand name furniture at going-out-of-business prices. We look forward to seeing many old friends during the sale.”
Products are being offered on a first-come, first-served basis, Fricks added. “We suggest shoppers come in early for the best selection.”
