Daniel Leon Welchel, 46 of Rome, was arrested this week after burglarizing two homes in Floyd County.

Reports stated that on August 20th Welchel broke into a home a stole a debit card, an EBT card and a set of keys.

Police stated that he then went on to make over $500 in purchases with the cards.

Reports added that on October 1, Welchel went into a home on Preacher Smith Road and stole items totaling $1,500.

Investigators stated that Welchel stole a cat, computer, grill, rocking chair, decorations and kitchen ware.

Authorities stated that he was spotted on Maple Street Tuesday in a stolen 1989 Ford truck.  It was then determined that the truck also had a stolen car tag.  A search uncovered marijuana and methamphetamine, as well as a glass smoking device.

Welchel is charged with two counts of first degree burglary, theft by taking, felony theft by receiving stolen property, misdemeanor theft by receiving stolen property, identity fraud, financial card fraud, possession of meth, possession of marijuana,
