Joseph Marty Wright, 29 of Rome, found himself behind bars after he allegedly physically assaulted a woman at a home on Pine Park Road.
Reports stated that on September 29th he pulled the victim out of the bed by her hair, grabbed her throat and then proceeded to place his hands over her mouth preventing her from breathing.
The victim stated that Wright then held her down on the bed, straddled her and prevented her from getting us. Reports added that the woman suffered a scratch to her right wrist.
Reports went on to state that Wright then took the victim’s cell phone, which was valued at $1,500, and prevented her from calling 911. The altercation occurred in the presence of a 3 and 7 year-old child.
Wright is charged with battery, hindering a person from making a 911 call, theft by taking and two counts of cruelty to children.
