Frederick Sinclair Decoster, 56 of Rome, was arrested at the Floyd County Courthouse while on trial for shoplifting for a new felony charge.

Reports stated that while in trial he went to a jurors home and tried to convince her not to find him guilty.

He was charged with embracery Tuesday.
Embracery is the attempt to influence a juror corruptly to give his or her verdict in favor of one side or the other in a trial, by promise, persuasions, entreaties, money, entertainments and the like.

It is punishable by a fine of up to $1,000 and up to five years in jail.
