The City of Rockmart has issued new water restrictions due to the area being placed on a Level 1 Drought notice from the Georgia Environmental Protection Division.
City Manager Jeff Ellis said that the declaration means that residents can irrigate outdoors daily between the hours of 4 and 10 p.m. for the purposes of planting, growing, managing or maintaining ground cover, trees, shrubs or other plants.
He added that odd numbered addresses can water on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Even-numbered addresses are allowed to water on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays
