Rome police have launched an investigation into a case where a Rome woman stated that someone opened a Sam’s Club charge account in her name then ran up $5,000 without her approval.

Investigators said that they are hoping to use video footage from the store to identity the suspect.

Reports stated that the account was opened at the Rome store back on August 16th.  The suspect purchased three iPad Pros on the account. The total purchase was for $2,978.

The following day two more iPad Pros were purchased from a Sam’s Club in Snellville on the account.

The victim told police that she found out about the charges when she received a bill this week.
