Shalanda Nicole Blackwell, 42 of Rome, was arrested at the Budget Inn on Martha Berry Blvd on Wednesday. Her arrest came after police and fire officials were responding to a fire that investigators believe may have been intentionally set.
Investigators said that they think the blaze started as a result of a cigarette.
Two rooms suffered extensive damage after a fire broke out in a room on the north side of the motel.
No one was injured.
Polie said that Blackwell, the occupant of the room where the fire started, became verbally abusive and refused to cooperate with authorities.
She was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and probation violation.
The hotel remained open, but six eight patrons had to be relocated to other rooms.
