Calvin Newell Jr, 54 of Rome, was arrested on Monday after trying to elude police on a scooter.
Reports stated that Newell had stolen a bag that contained an iPhone 5, a driver’s license, bank card, child support card and a phone case valued at close to $500 back on August 19th of this year.
When officers spotted Newell on Lyons drive he attempted to get away on a scooter before trying to run on foot.
The scooter was also found to not have a proper tag, and Newell was operating it without a driver’s license
Newell is charged with robbery, fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, driving on suspended license, obstruction of law enforcement, diving on an expired tag and driving without insurance.
