Jonathan Samuel Evans, 27 of Rome, was arrested this week after he was accused of giving inmates at the Floyd County Prison food and tobacco products.

Authorities added that Evans also allowed inmates to use his cell phone on numerous occasions.

Reports stated that Evans worked as a Public Works employee overseeing the inmate’s work release detail while the alleged acts occurred.

Evans resigned this week in lieu of termination.

Evans is charged with giving inmates items without the warden’s authorization.
