An inmate at the Floyd County Jail, Toby Keith Johnson, 21 of Rome, is facing new charges after deputies discovered a handmade weapon in his cell this week.

Reports stated that Johnson was found to have created a knife from a piece of metal dust broom.  The shank was close to eight inches long and had a sharp pointed end.

Johnson was housed in the J-block.

He is facing felony possession of a weapon by an inmate and felony interference with government property charges from the incident.

Johnson has been incarcerated since February 23 after being arrested for possession of methamphetamine, terroristic threats and acts, interference with government property and a parole violation.
