Eric Carl Virta, 23 of Rome, was arrested on drug charges after a traffic stop at the intersection of East Third Street and East First Avenue last weekend. Reports said that the officer pulled Virta over for not wearing a seat belt when a search of the vehicle uncovered numerous drugs.
Reports added that Virta had been followed by police after he was suspected of selling drugs from his car on Martha Berry Highway.
The search uncovered a bottle with marijuana and two baggies of suspected methamphetamine.
The officer searched the vehicle, finding a pill bottle with burnt marijuana roaches in it and two baggies of methamphetamine.
Virta is charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, probation violation and a seat belt charge.
