Elias Legacy Brown, 18 of Rome, was arrested this week for allegedly lying to police about a stolen car.
Reports said that Brown told officers that his sister’s vehicle had been stolen from his driveway. Officers were later notified that a car matching the description had wrecked at Cedar Avenue and Hemlock Street.
Brown later admitted to another officer that he had been driving the car and left the scene after the wreck. Reports added that Brown told police, “He was scared to admit having the accident because of his age.”
Brown was then charged with the false report of a crime.
