Rome police arrested 19 year-old Andrew Lorenzo Dupree, of Rome, this week on drug and obstruction charges following a traffic stop in the Kroger parking lot.

Reports said that the officer initiated the traffic stop when Dupree, a passenger in the vehicle, got out and started to run. After a foot chase officers were able to locate Dupree hiding under thick underbrush.  The officer said that Dupree tried to resist arrest, but was unable to do so.

A search of Dupreeā€™s pocket unveiled a cigarette pack with a bag of suspected cocaine.

Officers found cocaine on Dupree and he resisted having handcuffs placed on him.

He is charged with felony possession of cocaine, obstruction and two misdemeanor failure to appear warrants.
