Rockmart officials said that 31 year-old Miranda Thomas died in a car wreck on Tuesday. Reports said that her husband, Samuel Thomas ran off the road in an attempt to avoid hitting a dog. Mrs. Thomas was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital just after midnight Tuesday, where she was pronounced dead from severe traumatic injuries. The couple’s infant daughter was also in the car and did not suffer any serious injury.
Reports said that the wreck occurred on Antioch Road. They said that Thomas swerved, and then overcorrected before spinning out and striking a ditch. The vehicle then overturned and struck several trees before coming to rest.
Mrs. Thomas was found pinned under the vehicle when emergency responders arrived.
The Georgia State Patrol is conducting the investigation.
