A wreck near the Floyd and Polk County line resulted in three people being transported to a local hospital with injuries. Reports said that a Nissan Altima, driven by Kelsey Johnson, of Cedartown, was traveling south of GA 101 came over a hill and barely escaped crashing into a vehicle that was stopped to talk to a mail truck that stopped to place mail in a box.
A Jeep, being driven by 43 year-old Zachery Summerville of Rockmart, was behind the Altima and was unable to avoid a crash. Reports said that Summerville lost control of his vehicle and hit the Nissan in the rear before flipping.
Both Johnson, a passenger in her car, and a passenger in Summerville’s Jeep, were taken to the hospital.
Police said that the mail carrier reported that the car’s driver had stopped to ask for directions to the post office.
The car that had stopped for directions left the scene before authorities arrived.
