Shaw Industries announced a plan to consolidate the operations of Plant 24 in Winchester, Tennessee, into other facilities in the North Georgia area. The production capacity for the type of commercial broadloom produced at Plant 24 will be leveraged at other Shaw facilities in the Dalton, Chatsworth and Calhoun areas, creating a total of 81 new positions at various facilities.
This consolidation will impact 228 associates at the Winchester facility.
Shaw’s Human Resources team will assist associates with benefits, retraining opportunities, and out-placement options. The consolidation process will begin in April, with operations ceasing in August. Over the past two years, Shaw has committed $600 million in capital investments to enhance its operations, including expanding U.S. operations in hardwood, resilient, carpet tile, extrusion, distribution, and recycling.
At full capacity, these expansions will create almost 1,000 jobs throughout the Southeast.
