Donald Ray Rizer, 60 of Rome, was arrested this week after police said he attempted to defraud his insurance company. Report said that Rizer told authorities last December that his car had been stolen from a driveway on Argon Drive. After weeks of investigations police were finally told that he had given the car to a couple who then wrecked it.
Reports said that after Rizer found out that the car had been wrecked he told them to burn or do what they had to do to get rid of it. It was at that point he allegedly tried to collect insurance money from it.
Rizer is charged with false report of a crime, conspiracy to commit a crime and theft by deception.
