I am just about tired of the way things are going for the University of Georgia basketball program.

I just don’t understand what is going on. After having season tickets for the past two years I have watched Stegman Coliseum pack out on weekends and nearly fill up on weekday nights.

I have watched coaches repeatedly stand up for Coach Mark Fox. I have heard from numerous people that ‘Fox get’s you ready for the NBA.’ Well, that’s all fine and dandy, but what has it done for the University of Georgia?

Fox’s only McDonald’s All-American Kentavious Caldwell Pope played two seasons before heading to the NBA in the first round. How did those two seasons go? Below .500. Since he left players like Kenny Gaines and Charles Mann were supposed to take the Dawgs to the next level.

Not once in Fox’s seven years have the Dawgs had a higher recruiting class above 50. So I guess you can say he is getting “more bang for his buck” with all the wins he is getting. The bad part is, he is still losing many, many conference games.

Heck, that two point loss to start to season to UTC is unacceptable. Yes, UGA has made strides following Dennis Felton, but they are still not where we, the fans, want them to be.

When you look at all of the talent around the state of Georgia, one had to wonder why they aren’t staying in state. Heck, we have about as many players from Michigan, including our best in Yante Maten, as we do Peach State guys.

Then we see school’s like Alabama, who go out and hire former NBA champion Avery Johnson. What happens? In one year, Bama beats three top 25 schools. That is unacceptable. Bama fans still don’t even realize the school has a basketball team!

I am having a daja vu moment from the end of our football season.

Dennis Felton was brought to Athens to clean up the mess that Jim Herrick left behind. Fox was brought in to take the team to the next level. It has been seven years. I like Mark Fox, but it’s time to win. Anything less than a national tournament bid this year and it’s time to say goodbye.
