Gordon County authorities said that the man that was found dead behind the Georgia Bank and Trust last week was the suspect in a Christmas Eve burglary. Reports said that the body of Roy Gerald Brown, 46 of Cartersville, was found along with a number of antique coins that were stolen from a coin ship on South Wall Street.

Authorities said that Brown had forced entry by cutting a hole through the rooftop and took a substantial amount of collectible coins.

On January 21, based upon evidence of similar transactions in other northwest Georgia jurisdictions and the fact that Calhoun Police had discovered his car in the parking lot of a nearby pharmacy, detectives obtained a warrant charging Brown. The coins were identified and returned to the rightful owner.
