Devunta Jamar Wood, 23 of Rome, was arrested this week for the January 15th burglary of Rick’s Little Garden. Reports said that Wood broke into the store and stole lottery tickets. According to officials, Wood tossed an object through the front glass door allowing entry before taking $900 in lottery tickets.
Reports went on to say that a few hours later Wood stole a purse from a woman at Floyd Medical Center. He also allegedly hit a Floyd Medical Center security officer with the purse as he fled.
Wood is charged with felony burglary and a felony parole violation along with battery, two counts of theft by taking and obstruction of officers, all misdemeanors.
