The Georgia Environmental Protection Division fined the City of Cave Spring for exceeding the amount of water that it allowed to flow though its sewer plant. The city had to pay $2,810 for exceeding the monthly flow amounts permitted between January and April 2015The city also exceeded the weekly amount allowed in May 2015.
City Clerk Judy Dickinson said that the city paid the fine Nov. 16.
The limit for gallons of water that can be treated is 220,000. One day the city treated 500,000.
City officials said that the amount of water treated was due to the amount of rain that fell.
