The secretary at New Zion Baptist Church in Rome who was arrested over the weekend for stealing $2,500 of church funds is now facing additional charges. Reports said that Trudy Irene Crowe, 45 of Rome, was arrested on Saturday on a charge of felony theft by conversion. However, on Sunday, Floyd County police added six additional counts of the charge.
Reports said that Crowe was additional charged of using the $2,500 to purchase an outbuilding for her personal property on Alabama Highway. Authorities said that the alleged incident occurred on June 12, 2015.
On Sunday, she was charged with writing six checks that totaled more than $1,632 for personal usage. Reports said that the checks were supposed to have been written for work performed at the church
