According to Rome City Police, late this week a thief broke into a vehicle in West Rome and stole Christmas from three children. Reports said that the thief stole over $300 worth of clothes, two tablets, and a laptop. Reports added that the youngest of the children was a special needs child. As a result, morning watch (3rd Shift) officers said that they ‘could not just stand by and take a police report’.

So, several officers teamed up to provide this family, out of their pocket, with a $300 gift card and a couple of dolls to help save Christmas for this family.

Reports said that the vehicle was parked at a home on Betty K Avenue off Burnett Ferry and the victim noticed the items stolen Thursday morning.

The officers who helped with the Christmas was revealed as Roy Willingham, Brent Novinger, Shaun Davis, William Jinright, Zack Colvin, Ricky Mills and Matt Cowan.

Rome Police Chief Elaine Snow said she couldn’t be prouder of her officers’ kindness. “It was a wonderful thing they did and we’re all so proud. Willingham said if anyone would like to help this family with their Christmas, they can call the RPD at 706-238-5111 and ask for Maj. Debbie Burnett.
