A second pedestrian crossing the street has been killed in Rome. Reports said that Robert Eugene Ely, 55, was crossing Shorter Avenue near Farmer’s Furniture when he was struck by a westbound vehicle just after 7 pm Sunday.
Ely was pronounced dead from severe head and chest trauma.
Police said that the driver of the car was ruled not at fault, and no citations were issued.
Reports said that there was not a crosswalk where Ely had walked and the vehicle had the right of way.
