A 54 year-old Cedartown man was killed while crowing Second Avenue on Saturday evening. Reports said that Ronnie Lee Scoggins was hit by a truck as he was attempting to walk across Second Avenue and Fourth Street around 6:30 pm.  Reports added that there was no crosswalk in the area and that the posted speed limit was 35 miles per hour.

Witnesses said that the Ford 150 was in the outside lane heading toward Broad Street and appeared to be going to speed limit when the pedestrian illegally walked in front of the truck.

No charges were filed against the driver of the truck.

Officials said that Scoggins died as a result of blunt-force trauma to the head and abdomen.
