Dekaylon Tyquon Thompson, 18 of Rome, was arrested on Monday at the same location he is to have allegedly burglarized. Reports said that Thompson is accused of stealing jewelry and money from a pawn shop on North 5th Avenue.
Police said that during his arrest Thompson had the stolen jewelry and cash on him. They added that after he was read his rights, he allegedly admitted to breaking into the pawn shop. At that point, after being placed in the back of the patrol car he was able to escape before being recaptured.
Reports went on to say that Thompson busted out one of the front windows to gain entry.
He is charged with burglary, escape, criminal damage to property and obstruction of officers.
