Specialty Contracting Inc. has begun the demolition of the old McCall Hospital on South Broad Street in Rome. The demolition will be done differently due to the salvaging of bricks and tile in the building. The South Rome Redevelopment Corp. will be selling the items in fundraisers.

Specialty Contracting won the right to demolish the building with a bid of $123,800. Early estimates said that the demolition should take around 45 days to complete.

The project is being funding though the Neighborhood Stabilization Program with the Northwest Georgia Regional Commission.

People interested in purchasing a brick can contact Suzanne Parries in the Rome Community Development office to be placed on a priority list.
