According to Floyd County deputy coroner Gene Proctor the death of an inmate at the Floyd County Jail is being treated as a homicide. He said that the victim was found with massive head trauma. Previous: The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office released a statement Wednesday that an inmate at the Floyd County Jail was pronounced dead around 03:15 a.m. by Deputy Floyd County Coroner Gene Proctor. Reports said that the inmate was identified as Stephen Rudolph Nalley, age 49, who has been incarcerated in The Floyd County Jail since August 12, 2015 on charges of Burglary- (First Degree- Forced Entry), Aggravated Stalking and a Superior Court Order to serve 7 Months and 27 Days in The Floyd County Jail.
Mr. Nalley was being housed in the O-Block at the Jail.
`Sheriff Burkhalter was notified of the inmate death and immediately notified The Georgia Bureau of Investigation. The GBI arrived at the Floyd County Jail shortly after 04:30 a.m. to begin the investigation, ` According to Chief Deputy Tom Caldwell.
