Carrie Ann Vega, 35 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said she was found in possession of drugs after not sending her child to school.

Reports said that Vega allowed her child to miss 11 days of school during the 2025-26 school year.  Vega was notified of truancy issues last November but still allowed her child to miss unexcused days of school.

Police added that while taking Vega into custody this week, she was found in possession of over an ounce of marijuana and 60 oxycodone pills.

Vega is charged with the mandatory education of children, possession of a schedule II controlled substance and felony possession/distribution of a controlled substance.
