Jesstin Emell Washington, 34 of Las Vegas, was arrested in Rome after reports said he committed a hit and run and later lied to investigators last February.
Police said that Washington caused a wreck on North Broad Street at Duke Street and then proceeded to flee the scene.
Officers said that after later locating Washington, he attempted to deceive them about his involvement in order to avoid arrest.
Reports went on to say that Washington gave police a fake name and date of birth while being questioned. Washington was also wanted on a warrant through another jurisdiction.
Washington is charged with hit and run, obstruction, giving false information to police, false statements and writings, improper lane change and failure to appear.
