The iron bridge over Armuchee Creek in Armuchee will close to all traffic beginning Monday, October 12, as Floyd County Public Works crews replace the bridge’s wooden deck.

The closure is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. Monday, with work expected to be completed by 4 p.m. Thursday, October 15, according to Floyd County Public Works.

The single-lane bridge is located between U.S. 27 (Martha Berry Highway) and Scenic Road, just past the post office off Martha Berry Highway in Armuchee.

The bridge will remain completely closed throughout the repair project, and motorists will not be permitted to cross at any time while crews are working.

Drivers who regularly use the bridge should plan alternate routes and allow additional travel time while the work is underway.

Motorists traveling between U.S. 27 and Scenic Road should consider using connecting public roads to reach their destinations while avoiding the closed bridge. Drivers are encouraged to follow posted detour signs and use caution around the work area.

The project is expected to be completed Thursday afternoon, weather and construction conditions permitting.
