Cartersville is rewriting the Georgia high school football record book with an offensive performance that has put the Purple Hurricanes in a class of their own. With a 52-8 victory over Cedartown last week, Cartersville became the first team in Georgia history to score at least 48 points in each of its first seven games of a season.

The Purple Hurricanes have been remarkably consistent on offense, scoring seven or more touchdowns in every game during their historic start to the 2026 campaign.

Before Cartersville’s accomplishment, the state record stood at six consecutive games with at least 48 points. Warner Robins set that mark in 2021, but the Purple Hurricanes have now moved beyond it with their latest performance.

Cartersville isn’t the only Georgia program to produce a high-scoring opening stretch this season. Carrollton also reached the 48-point mark in five consecutive games before its streak came to an end. Valdosta has matched that five-game run and remains active, although a forfeit victory that was not played does not count toward the scoring streak.

Thomas County Central and Trinity Christian also recorded five-game stretches of scoring at least 48 points, accomplishing the feat in 2025 and 2021, respectively. Dublin reached the milestone over five straight games in 2005, while Crim accomplished it in 1998.

Several other programs have opened seasons with four consecutive games of 48 or more points. Recent examples include Camden County in 2024, Walton and ACE Charter in 2023, and Hart County and Cherokee Bluff in 2021.

Thomson, Monroe Area, Fitzgerald and Westside of Macon also appear on the four-game list, along with Warner Robins, which achieved the feat in both 2000 and 1975.

Nearly all the recorded streaks of this length have occurred since 2005, making Cartersville’s current run an especially notable achievement in Georgia high school football history.

With its streak still active, Cartersville will have an opportunity to extend the record as the season continues.
