Haven O’Conner Barron-Carter, 17 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he led police on a chase over speeds of over 100 mph with an unrestrained 2 year-old child in the car.

Police said that they observed Barron-Carter driving 84 mph in a 65 mph one.  However, when officers initiated the stop, he accelerated while weaving in and out of other cars along GA 53. At one point in the chase, speeds accelerated to over 100 mph before turning onto Minshew Road. There, officers stated that Barron-Carter reached speeds of over 72 mph in a 40 mph zone.

After eventually coming to a stop, officers found the 2 year-od child and another passenger inside his vehicle.

Police went on to say that during the stop, Barron-Carter attempted to fee again before being boxed in by two police cars.

Barron-Carter is charged with two counts excessive speeding, reckless driving, felony attempting to elude police, reckless conduct, obstruction of police, and a seat belt violation for a child.

Barron-Carter was also arrested on September 18th for driving a minor to Shannon Park on Minshew Road in order to fight another minor. Police added that Barron-Carter presented a Orbeez Nerf gun as a way that made another person believe he had an actual gun.
