Julion Frank Mazzo, 23 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said he beat his stepfather over the head before slamming him into a cabinet.
Police said that Mazzo struck the victim on the head repeatedly with a closed fist before slamming his head into the cabinet. Reports added that the victim was left with a large gash on his head, resulting in him having to seek medical attention.
Police went on to say that the incident, which happened at the victims home on Moran Lake Road, occured in front of a child.
Mazzo is charged with aggravated battery and third degree cruelty to children.
