Cherokee County (AL) investigators were following up on a case in the Broomtown Community last week when they observed a man wearing a mask riding a four-wheeler on the roadway.

When investigators attempted to stop him, he refused to stop and a pursuit began. The man continued fleeing on the four-wheeler, eventually going off road into a wooded area. He later arrived at a family member’s residence, where he forced his way inside.

Due to the circumstances, the Cherokee County Emergency Response Team (ERT) was activated. After several hours, the man willingly exited the residence and surrendered to deputies without further incident.

The man was identified as Christopher Alan Tallent of Gaylesville. Investigators also discovered that Tallent had outstanding warrants from Chattooga County, Georgia.

Tallent was charged in Cherokee County with Burglary 2nd Degree and Attempting to Elude

Sheriff Shaver would like to thank the Cedar Bluff Police Department, Leesburg Police Department, and the Centre Police Department for their assistance.
