Crawdaddy Provisions announcd on Friday that they will not reopen its market as owners Dereck and Joan Brady announced they are stepping away from the business to focus on significant health challenges.

In a Facebook post, Dereck shared that he has been diagnosed with Stage 1 pancreatic cancer and will soon begin chemotherapy before undergoing a Whipple procedure, a major surgery commonly used to treat pancreatic cancer. He said the surgery will be followed by months of recovery.

Joan is also facing a lengthy recovery. She underwent left hip replacement surgery Tuesday and plans to have her right hip replaced once she has recovered from the first procedure.

“Reopening the market does not fit into the plan,” the couple said in their announcement, explaining that their health and future must now take priority.

The decision marks the end of a 15-year journey for the couple, who operated Crawdaddy Provisions through several different ventures, including a food truck, restaurant and market.

“We have so enjoyed the interactions with you over the years from the Food Truck, the Restaurant, and the Market,” Dereck and Joan said. “We have met so many wonderful people. Thank you for 15 fun years.”

The couple thanked their customers and the community for supporting them throughout the years as they begin a new chapter focused on their health and recovery.
