The Community Foundation for Greater Rome opened its 2026 Community Impact Grant Cycle on August 5. This year, the Foundation will give fewer grants so that each grant can have a greater impact in Rome and Floyd County.
The Greater Rome Impact Fund plans to award three or four grants of $20,000 to $25,000 each.
Two other grants will also be offered:
- One Spiegelberg Legacy Fund grant of up to $9,000 for work that helps children in need
- One First Christian Heritage Fund grant of up to $5,000 for work that enriches spiritual life, promotes diversity, or supports social justice
This year’s application will have two steps.
First, organizations will complete a short application. They will explain the need they want to address, what they plan to do, who will benefit, and what results they hope to achieve.
Foundation staff will review the applications to make sure they are complete, meet the grant rules, and fit the purpose of the selected grant. A group of finalists will then be asked to provide more information before final decisions are made.
The two-step process is meant to save applicants time. Only finalists will be asked to complete the longer second step.
The Foundation is looking for proposals that meet an important community need and can show clear results. Strong proposals may also help prevent problems, bring groups together, create long-term stability, strengthen a nonprofit, or attract other support.
Because the Foundation is focusing its funds on fewer, larger grants, not every strong proposal can be funded.
Zoom Information Session
The Foundation will hold a Zoom information session at 10:00 a.m. on August 10. The session will explain the grant opportunities, the new application, and the two-step process.
Applicants may register on the Foundation’s website under the apply for a grant section. A recording and a list of frequently asked questions will be available after the session.
Important Dates
The initial application opened August 5 and will close August 21. Grant decisions will be announced in late November.
Organizations must serve Rome or Floyd County to apply. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations and churches. Charitable groups may also apply if they work with a qualified nonprofit that agrees to receive and manage the grant funds for them as a fiscal sponsor.
