Mark Thomas Scoffield, 42 of Aragon, was jailed this week after reports said he hit a 38 year-old man at the Floyd County Jail.
Reports said that Scoffield struck the victim on the right ear, causing a cut on the back side.
Scoffield is charged with battery.
