A Rome man is facing criminal charges after authorities say three dogs escaped from his property and attacked three people, leaving one victim with serious injuries. According to charging information, Danny Ray Sullivan, 40, has been charged with three counts of reckless conduct in connection with the incident at a residence on East 19th Street SW.
Investigators allege Sullivan knowingly kept three dogs that were able to escape from their fenced yard and failed to take corrective action to prevent them from getting loose.
Authorities say the dogs escaped the property and attacked three people, all of whom required medical treatment. One victim reportedly suffered severe injuries, including puncture wounds, lacerations and scratches across multiple areas of her body. Charging documents further state that a substantial portion of flesh near the victim’s elbow was removed during the attack.
According to the charges, investigators allege Sullivan consciously disregarded a substantial and unjustifiable risk to others by failing to adequately secure the dogs, resulting in bodily harm and endangering public safety.
