Drivers traveling through Rome should prepare for daytime lane closures on U.S. 27 next week as the Georgia Department of Transportation completes maintenance work. According to GDOT, the right southbound lane and shoulder of U.S. 27 at 10th Street will be closed from Monday, July 20, through Thursday, July 23, weather permitting.

The closures will be in effect each day from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. as maintenance crews work in the area.

Motorists are encouraged to use caution, reduce their speed, and watch for workers and equipment near the roadway. Delays are possible during the work hours.

Drivers can check real-time traffic conditions and work zone updates by calling 511, visiting 511ga.org, or using the Georgia 511 mobile app.

GDOT said crews will continue following established workplace safety and sanitation practices while performing the maintenance work.
