AdventHealth celebrated the official opening of its new Cancer Pavilion in Rome with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, July 15, welcoming community leaders, physicians, care team members and neighbors to mark a significant milestone in expanding access to comprehensive, whole-person cancer care across Northwest Georgia.
Located at 641 Braves Blvd., the new Cancer Pavilion brings a wide range of cancer services together under one roof, making it easier for patients to receive coordinated, high-quality care close to home.
The new facility features:
- A Breast Center with advanced mammography, bone density scanning and diagnostic imaging technology
- Experienced hematology and oncology specialists
- A spacious, light-filled infusion center designed for patient comfort
- An on-site oncology laboratory and pharmacy to streamline the patient experience
In addition to advanced clinical care, the Cancer Pavilion offers comprehensive support services, including nurse navigators, oncology dietitians, social workers and chaplain services, ensuring patients and their families receive care for the body, mind and spirit throughout every step of their cancer journey.
“Navigating cancer is the most emotionally and physically challenging time in an individual’s life,” said Mayur Mody, MD, medical director of oncology services for AdventHealth Georgia. “Comprehensive and compassionate care close to home allows patients to receive expert treatment while remaining surrounded by the people, places and support systems that matter most. There is something incredibly special about neighbors caring for neighbors, and that’s exactly what this Cancer Pavilion represents.”
During the ceremony, AdventHealth leaders reflected on the organization’s mission of Extending the Healing Ministry of Christ and the importance of caring for the whole person.
“Projects like this don’t happen because of one person or one team—they happen when a community comes together around a shared purpose,” said Isaac Sendros, president and CEO of AdventHealth Redmond. “We are excited to invite our community to join us on this journey as we continue building something meaningful for the patients and families of this region.”
The Cancer Pavilion builds upon AdventHealth’s comprehensive cancer care program in Calhoun at AdventHealth Gordon and is supported by the nationally acclaimed AdventHealth Research Institute, connecting patients throughout Northwest Georgia to a broader network of specialists, clinical expertise, latest research and innovative treatment options.
Leaders also shared that the new facility represents the first phase of a long-term vision for cancer care in Rome. Future expansion plans include radiation therapy services, an expanded infusion center, and a Center for Whole-Person Care dedicated to wellness, survivorship and supportive services for cancer patients and the broader community.
