Daniyah Sabree Powell, 26 of Rome, was arrested this week after reports said she allowed her two children to be truant from school.
Police said that between August 1, 2025 and April 29, 2026 Powell allowed for one child to miss 34 unexcused days of school. During that same time period, a second child was allowed to accumulate 23 unexcused days of school.
Powell signed a truancy contract with the school back in January, but failed to correct the issues.
Powell is charged with two counts mandatory education of children.
