A 40-year-old Rome man has been ordered incarcerated in the Floyd County Jail after a court found him in willful contempt for failing to comply with court-ordered child support obligations. According to court records, Jordan Brice Askew was found in contempt for failing to make the required child support payments. The contempt order also directed him to make current support and arrearage payments following the ruling.
The court found that Askew was in arrears by $2,227.95 as of Feb. 28, 2026, and ruled that his failure to make the required purge payments constituted willful contempt.
As a result, the court ordered that Askew be arrested and held in the Floyd County Jail until he purges himself of contempt by paying a lump-sum amount of $2,227.95.
Under the order, if the purge amount is not paid within 30 days of incarceration, the case will be placed on the next regularly scheduled Division of Child Support Services hearing calendar for the court to determine whether continued incarceration is warranted.
In addition to the purge payment, Askew remains responsible for ongoing child support obligations of $750 per month, plus $50 per month toward outstanding arrears and a $1.50 payment processing fee.
